Mycology

I have spent countless hours in the woods of Western Massachusetts. I work as a dogwalker, leading packs through the hills on long excursions every day of the year. As I spent more and more time in nature, I became curious about the wonderful variety in shapes and colors of wild mushrooms.

A habitual autodidact, I procured every book on fungi I could find, and gave myself a deep education on our hidden siblings in the fifth kingdom. I began to take too many photos and memorize long lists of intricate latin binomials. I started to see the world of organisms that usually escape notice. I learned, hunted, and ate dozens and dozens of species of wild mushrooms. I’ve been known to get obsessed.

I sometimes post stuff about mushrooms on my Hunter’s Heart facebook page.
